24 more killed in Pakistan floods

Islamabad/UNI: At least 24 people were killed and 115 others were injured in heavy monsoon rain-triggered flash floods in the last 24 hours in Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.

According to a report released by the NDMA on Sunday night, the country's southern Sindh province was the worst-hit region with 19 killed, followed by the northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with three killed.

Eastern Punjab province reported one death and 107 injured, and southwest Balochistan province reported one death.

The total death toll in Pakistan from this season's monsoon rains and floods since mid-June has risen to around 1,314 along with 12,703 injured, according to the latest statistics updated by the NDMA.

Additionally, 16,82,726 houses have been destroyed, while an estimated 7,50,405 livestock has perished due to the rains across the country, it said.
