Afghanistan: 13 soldiers killed in Taliban attack

Kabul/UNI: At least 13 Afghan soldiers were killed and five others injured in a Taliban attack on a military base in Kunduz province of northern Afghanistan, local media reported on Wednesday.

According to TOLO News, the incident happened on Tuesday night, when a group of Taliban militants attacked a military base in Arbabkhel village of Imam Sahib district.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the assault, while the Afghanistan Defence Ministry has not yet commented on the matter.

The attack took place on the same day, when the Afghanistan government and the Taliban exchanged prisoners, which was seen as a possible jump-start to a peace settlement in the war-torn country.
