Afghanistan: 26 soldiers killed in Taliban attack

Kabul, July 26 (IBNS): A Taliban attack on a military base in Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province left 26 Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers killed, media reports said on Wednesday.

The incident left 13 soldiers injured.

A statement from the Ministry of Defense received by Afghanistan's Pajhwok Afghan News, said the ANA base was came under attack in Karzani area of Khakriz district of Kandahar on Tuesday night.

MoD spokesman, Maj. Gen. Dawlat Waziri told the agency that 26 soldiers were killed in the attack.

The spokesman said 80 Taliban militants also suffered casualties when soldiers retaliated.
