Afghanistan government to release Anas Haqqani and two other senior Taliban leaders

Kabul/IBNS: Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday confirmed the release of  Anas Haqqani from Bagram prison, media reports said.

He announced to free him in exchange for the release of two lecturers of the American University of Afghanistan.

Speaking during a press conference, President Ghani was quoted as saying by the Khaama Press that the government will also release two other senior Taliban leaders together with Anas Haqqani.

He said Haji Mali and Abdul Rashid are the two other senior Taliban leaders who will be released.
