Moscow/UNI/Sputnik: Former Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, who stepped down to prevent further violence in his country, was fleeing Kabul escorted with cars filled with cash, the Russian embassy said on Monday, adding that some cash was left in the airport.

Afghanistan is witnessing chaos and tension as Taliban insurgents entered Kabul on Sunday and took control over the presidential palace.

Ghani fled from the nation as the Taliban insurgents entered the capital city.

Afghanistan has been witnessing violence for the past several weeks ever since foreign forces started leaving the country and Taliban insurgents started capturing one region after another.
