Afghanistan: Residents say airstrike kills seven from a family, govt rejects claim
Kabul, Feb 9 (IBNS): Residents in Afghanistan's Khost province said that at least seven seven members of a family were killed in an airstrike carried out by the nation's security forces.
However, the claim has been rejected by the government.
According to the victim's family, the airstrike was carried out in Ali Sher district in Khost.
"Five brothers have been martyred in the airstrike, another is my nephew. He was living with me. And another is my cousin,” Alijan Koshi, member of the family, was quoted as saying by Tolo News.
Condemning the incident, Haji Gulmarjan Faroodqi, head of Kochis Council in Khost, said, "Tell us who we are and to which country we belong? I swear to God that the seven people who have been martyred were not Taliban. They were ordinary people. They went there to visit their friends and families, but someone came and reported their presence for some dollars.”
Even though the Khost Police Headquarters confirmed that an airstrike was carried out in Ali Sher district, it said that no civilian was killed.
