Islamabad: Attacks on Pakistan's security post along the Afghanistan border has spiked in recent times ever since the Taliban captured the neighbouring nation, media reports said.

Despite claims by Pakistani authorities that the Pak-Afghan border was fully secure, instability on the Afghan side seemed to be seeping into Pakistan, ANI reported.

On August 25, The Taliban also detained two Pakistani journalists in Kandahar city. Khyber TV reporter and a cameraperson were arrested by the Taliban but they were released later, the news agency reported.

Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the resistance forces in Afghanistan's northeastern province of Panjshir, stated on Sunday his readiness to cease fighting and start negotiations if the Taliban leaves the province.

"The national resistance forces are ready to immediately stop the war to achieve a lasting peace if the Taliban cease their attacks and military operations in Panjshir and Andarab, and hope to hold a large meeting with scholars and reformers, and continue discussions and talks," Massoud said in a statement posted on Facebook.
