Bangladesh reports 614 new COVID-19 cases in past 24 hours

Dhaka: Bangladesh has recorde 614 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, media reports said on Wednesday.

During the same period, five deaths due to the virus have been reported in the country.

The death toll climbed to 8,428 after five fatalities were registered in the 24 hours to 8 am Wednesday, according to data released by the government, reports bdnews24.

Another 937 people recovered from COVID-19 through treatment at home and in hospital care in the same period, bringing the tally of recoveries to 499,627, the news portal reported.

The first COVID-19 case was reported in Bangladesh last year.
