Chinese national held from Dhaka airport with 28 gold bars

Dhaka, July 8 (IBNS): Security officials have detained a Chinese national from Dhaka's  Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with 28 gold bars, media reports said.

The bars weighed over three kilogrammes.

The detained person was identified as Xian Zhu.

Detainee Xian Zhu landed at the airport from Dubai around 11:00am,  Shahidul Islam, director general of Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) was quoted as saying by The Daily Star.

The security officials stopped him while he was trying to cross the  green channel at the airport.

Officials searched him, scanned his luggage and then found 28 gold bars hidden inside three portable lights, media reports said.
