Coronavirus: Bangladesh government lifts bar on public movement
Dhaka: Amid rising COVID-19 cases in the country, the Bangladesh government has lifted restrictions on movement and activities for the public starting Tuesday, media reports said.
In a circular on Monday, the cabinet division notified that the directives on public movement do not include the ban on leaving residences at night without urgent need, reports Dhaka Tribune.
There will be no bar on movement after 10pm from September 1 in the south Asian country, where the first COVID-19 case was reported in March, as it was not mentioned in the new government circular.
Similarly, the government will also allow public transports to carry passengers at full capacity on regular fare from September 1, withdrawing its previous directive of carrying half capacity with 60% hiked fare, reports Dhaka Tribune.
In a decision which is supposed to help people across the country, Bangladesh Railway will start selling tickets for all local, mail and commuter trains at the stations from September 5.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) has been considering allowing motorcycle-based ride-sharing services to resume soon, reports the Bangladeshi newspaper.
The country reported 33 new COVID-19 related deaths.
During the past 24 hours, 2,174 new cases were also recorded.
