Islamabad/IBNS: The Islamabad High Court on Wednesday granted bail to PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari on medical grounds.

He was granted bail in two cases filed against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), media reports said.

Zardari, who is being probed by NAB over allegations of money laundering and corruption, had filed an application in the high court earlier this month to seek bail in two cases. A two-member bench comprising IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Aamir Farooq heard the application today, Dawn News reported.

The Pakistani leader and former President was granted bail against two surety bonds of Rs 10 million each.

He was arrested in June this year for his alleged involvement in money laundering of billions through fake accounts.

Zardari has been undergoing treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) in Islamabad.

The leader moved the court on December 3, over a month after the former premier Nawaz Sharif was given similar relief.

Addressing the media outside the High Court, PPP chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari thanked the judiciary for the relief.
