Fight against COVID 19: Bangladesh to contribute $1.5 million to proposed Saarc fund

Dhaka/IBNS: Bangladesh  Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Sunday said the country will contribute $1.5 million to the proposed fund to combat Covid-19 in eight countries belonging to the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (Saarc).

“The government has decided to commit $1.5 million for the proposed Saarc fund in order to fight coronavirus,” he told Dhaka Tribune.

The formation of the fund was announced by PM Modi during the meeting of SAARC leaders last Sunday.

The Coronavirus has hit several countries in the SAARC region.

Bangladesh has reported two deaths so far.

Coronavirus, which allegedly originated from Wuhan region in China, has now touched over 150 countries across the globe.
