Hong Kong: Beijing critic Jimmy Lai ordered back to jail pending trial

Hong Kong: Hong Kong  pro-democracy mogul Jimmy Lai has been ordered back to prison after a court gave the verdict that a judge may have erred in granting him bail, media reports said.

The Apple Daily founder is accused of conspiring with foreign forces to endanger national security, reports BBC.

The Hong Kong businessman, who is also known for being anti-Beijing, had spent the last week under house arrest after securing bail.

He is one of the high-profile Hong Kong persons who has been charged under controversial security law.

The Chinese government enacted the national security law in Hong Kong in late June.

The law adjusts security policies in Hong Kong to Beijing's perception of crime and punishment with regard to separatism, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign countries.
