Late Karima Baloch's brother claims her body was 'abducted' in Pakistan

Islamabad: Late activist Karima Baloch's brother Sameer Mehrab has claimed that the body of her sister was forcefully taken away while it was being escorted to her hometown in the Tump region of Pakistan on Sunday.

He tweeted: "Previously we thought only living Baloch are prone to abductions. Here, this is a new law. Even a Baloch dead woman is not spared from abduction by Pakistan."

The coffin of Karima Baloch was brought from Canada to Karachi on Sunday morning where hundreds of people had gathered to receive her corpse. The Pakistani forces, however, took the body into their custody and refused to hand it over to her family and supporters, reports Baloch Warna News.

A journalist named  Bashir Ahmad Gwakh also tweeted on the issue: "Just spoke to human rights activist #KarimaBaloch's brother @Sameer_Mehrab. He says police were not giving her sister's dead body in Karachi but now the ambulance carrying the deceased is forcefully escorted by #Pakistan military vehicles. No words from the govt officials yet."

Renowned activist Karima Baloch, who was vocal about Pakistan Army and government atrocities in Balochistan, was found dead in Canada's Toronto city mysteriously.

She was a refugee in Canada.

Karima Baloch, a Canadian refugee named by the BBC as one of the world’s 100 most “inspirational and influential” women in 2016, was last seen on Dec 20, 2020, at approximately 3 p.m, reports The Balochistan Post.
