Man arrested in Kabul over grenade attack that left 8 dead, 36 wounded

Kabul, Nov 29 (IBNS) : A suspect has been arrested in connection to a grenade attack in Kabul city that left at least eight people dead and around 36 others wounded.

Local Khaama Press quoted the criminal Investigation Department (CID) officials as saying that late on Tuesday that a suspect has been arrested in connection to a grenade attack which took place a while ago in the 6th police district of the city.

The officials did not disclose further information in this regard and said an investigation is currently underway and more details will release once the investigations are completed.

This comes as a group of insurgents launched a coordinated attack in Police Districts 6 and 12 of Kabul city earlier this year that left more than 15 dead and scores others wounded.

However, it is yet not clear if the arrested individual has links with the attack or not.

This comes as the anti-government armed militant groups have been attempting to carry out terrorist attacks in the key cities of the country, including capital Kabul amid mounting pressure on them in the battlefield.

At least eighteen people were killed and several others were wounded after a suicide bomber detonated his explosives in Kabul city nearly two weeks.

The incident took place near a hotel in Lab-e-Jar area of the city amid an ongoing gathering of the supporters of Balkh governor Ata Mohammad Noor.
