Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane sent to 7-day police custody over rape case

A Kathmandu court on Monday sent Nepali cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane,who has been arrested for allegedly raping a teen, to seven days police custody.

The Court extended the term till October 13. It will come into effect from October 6, reports The Himalayan Times.

Advocate Shakti Pathak told the newspaper that Lamichhane pleaded before Judge Dayaram Dhakal during the term extension that he was innocent and was not involved in the sexual assault on a minor.

Lamichhane argued in the court that the woman who filed a complaint against him was 19 years old and not a minor.

He was arrested on Oct 6.
