Pakistan: 2 die in firing incident at polling station during Daska by-election

Islamabad: A firing incident at a polling station on Friday in Daska's NA-75 constituency in Pakistan's Sialkot region left at least two people killed  on Friday.

The incident reportedly left three people hurt.

The incident happened at a time when by-poll was being held in the region.

One of the victims was reportedly a member of the ruling PTI while the other belonged to the PML-N. A PTI polling agent was also among the injured, according to eyewitnesses and local media as quoted by Dawn News.

Sialkot DPO Hassan Asad Alvi told Dawn News the main suspect, Javed, who is a PML-N worker, had visited the Goindke polling station in the morning, where he had a verbal altercation with one of the deceased.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the incident.
