| @indiablooms | Aug 23, 2023, at 06:08 am

All eight passengers, who were trapped in a cable car in Pakistan's  Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, have been rescued, officials said on Tuesday.

The rescue operation spanned 14 hours.

Interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar confirmed the success of the rescue operation and wrote on X: "Relieved to know that Alhamdolillah all the kids have been successfully and safely rescued. Great team work by the military, rescue departments, district administration as well as the local people."

Earlier in the day, eight passengers, which included six students and two locals, were trapped in midair when two cables of the vehicle snapped.

They got stuck when two wires of the cable car snapped, Assistant Commissioner (AC) Jawad Hussain earlier told DawnNews, adding the cable car was privately run by locals for transportation across rivers as there were no roads or bridges in the area.
