Pakistan: Heavy rains lash Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, 28 die

At last 28 people died and more than 100 were injured as heavy rains and thunderstorm lashed several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab regions of Pakistan on Saturday, media reports said.

As per the provincial disaster management authority, 25 people were killed in rain-related incidents in KP's Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan, Karak and Lakki Marwat while 145 were injured. It added that at least 69 houses were partially damaged by the rain, reports Geo News.

As per PDMA's breakdown, 15 people died and 100 were injured in Bannu. It also added that 68 houses were partially damaged in the area., the news channel reported.

In Lakki Marwat district, five people died due to rains.

Meanwhile, in Karak, four people died and one person was injured. In, Dera Ismail Khan a child died due to the rains, two people were injured and one house was partially damaged, reports Geo News.

A Rescue 1122 official told Geo News that all stations of their Rescue 1122 in KP are on the alert to deal with any untoward incident.

He said relief activities continued as due to heavy rain, roof collapses occurred at many places in Lakki Marwat, Bannu and other parts of the province.
