Pakistan: IED blast leaves 5 cops hurt

Dera Ismail Khan, Pakistan: An explosion of an improvised explosive device (IED) in Pakistan's Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday left at least five policemen injured, media reports said.

An official told The Dawn a police mobile was targeted with an IED in Kulachi tehsil.

He said the blast occurred when the mobile of Kulachi police was on way to a basic health unit in Maddi area for polio security duty on the second day of the anti-polio campaign.

The van of the cops was damaged.

A police contingent rushed to the spot after the blast.

The injured people were taken to hospital for treatment.

The area was cordoned off after the blast.
