Pakistan PM Imran Khan to visit Russia for bilateral discussions
Islamabad/UNI: Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will visit Russia for bilateral discussions in the last week of February, media reports said on Monday.
According to Pakistan's Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Khan was invited to Moscow by Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling it 'evidence' that bilateral relations between Pakistan and Russia are witnessing a positive change, the Geo News reported.
"Indeed, preparations for such a visit are underway. And we will announce the date of such a visit in a timely manner," Sputnik quoted Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov as saying on PM Khan's visit.
"PM Imran's visit under the current circumstances is crucial," a diplomat was quoted as saying by The Express Tribune while referring to the rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine and ultimately between Russia and the West.
They will discuss bilateral cooperation, regional and international issues of mutual benefits, he added.
The upcoming visit will make Khan the first Pakistan PM in over two decades to visit Russia
