Pakistan Rangers opened fire on thousands of locals in Muzaffarabad, PoK activist urges India to summon Pakistani envoy

A prominent political activist from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) has urged the Indian government to summon the Pakistani envoy for an explanation after Pakistan Rangers opened fire on thousands of locals in Muzaffarabad recently.

Amjad Ayub Mirza said the situation in Muzaffarabad is very serious.

Muzaffarabad is the capital of the region.

“The Indian repertoire in the United Nations, we request them to raise their voice at the United Nations Forum. We also request the Indian government to instruct the Ministry of External Affairs to summon the Pakistan ambassador and ask for an explanation. This is the broad daylight murder that is taking place in PoJK. Our lives are in danger. People’s lives are in danger," Mirza was quoted as saying by ANI.

“At the moment the situation in Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani-occupied Jammu and Kashmir is getting very very serious. This morning, about 500,000 people descended upon Muzaffarabad and in the suburbs to protest against taxes on electricity bills, cuts in subsidies and to demand an end to the perks and privileges of the Prime Minister, the President, all members of the Legislative Assembly as well as the judges and bureaucracy,” Mirza said.

The Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) residents have sought help from India amid Islamabad's crackdown on the protesters, who took to streets against the price rise in New Delhi's hostile neighbour, media reports said.

The protesters clashed with security personnel as they escalated their agitation.

The protests took colour after the agitators raised "Azadi" slogans prompting the Pakistan government to resort to crackdown.

The activists urge India to pay attention to PoK and help the region including Gilgit-Balochistan to become independent.

This comes at a time India's Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday declared New Delhi will take back PoK if his BJP-led NDA returns to power in the Lok Sabha elections.

"We will take back PoK," said Shah, the second most important person in the BJP.
