Pakistan’s persistent efforts to smuggle drugs into Punjab via drones foiled again

In yet another remarkable display of vigilance and determination, the Border Security Force (BSF) successfully thwarted Pakistan’s relentless attempts to smuggle drugs into Punjab through drones.

On Friday, near the International Border in the Amritsar Sector, BSF personnel shot down a drone and uncovered a plastic bottle filled with approximately half a kilogram of narcotics.

According to a BSF officer, the incident unfolded during the afternoon hours of September 29, 2023, when forward-deployed BSF troops detected the movement of a drone near Rajatal village.

Swift action was taken, and upon conducting a thorough search operation ahead of the border fence, the troops made a significant discovery.

In the sprawling paddy fields adjacent to the village, the BSF team uncovered a drone, identified as a Quadcopter DJI Mavic-3 Classic, manufactured in China.

Attached to this surreptitious device was a soft drink bottle containing suspected heroin. The gross weight of the confiscated heroin amounted to a staggering 545 grams.

This latest incident stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the BSF in safeguarding the nation’s borders and thwarting nefarious attempts to smuggle drugs into Punjab.

The use of drones in drug trafficking has posed a persistent challenge, but with each successful interception, the BSF sends a clear message that such illicit activities will not go unchecked.

The Indian security forces remain on high alert, committed to defending the nation against any threats, whether they be traditional or emerging, ensuring the safety and security of the country’s citizens.
