People in Afghanistan stare uncertain future as banks remain closed after Taliban takeover

| @indiablooms | Aug 24, 2021, at 05:33 pm

Kabul: People in Kabul are suffering at the hands of the Taliban regime as prices of goods are increasing and the continuous closure of banks has further escalated the crisis.

People are facing the gravest problems right after the closure of banks and the biggest money-changing market-Sarai Shahzada- in Kabul, reports Khaama Press.

Despite having money, people are unable to withdraw money from their accounts.

Another problem is the payment of salaries to the employees of private organizations and government officials, reports Khaama Press.

Government officials are also in a thorough uncertainty as this is the end of the month but there is no clue about their salaries, the news agency reported.

On August 15, the Taliban entered Kabul.

President Ashraf Ghani resigned and fled the country to prevent what he described as bloodshed that would occur if militants stormed the city.

Many countries have since started evacuating their citizens and diplomatic personnel from Afghanistan.

Anti-Taliban demonstrations are taking place in different parts of the globe.
