She was guarding bags of Cheetos: Elon Musk slams Secret Service chief Kimberly Cheatle over attack on Donald Trump

Tech entrepreneur Elon Musk slammed Secret Service officers responsible for Donald Trump’s safety after the former US President escaped an assassination attempt during his rally in  Pennsylvania.

Targeting Director of Secret Service, Kimberly Cheatle, over the incident, he posted on X: "So before being in charge of protecting the President, she was guarding bags of Cheetos."

He wrote the post in the comment section which highlighted the past credentials of Cheatle.

Musk also endorsed Trump and posted on the social media platform: "I fully endorse President Trump and hope for his rapid recovery."

Who is Kimberly Cheatle?

Kimberly is the 27th Director of the U.S. Secret Service, sworn into office September 17, 2022.

"She is responsible for successfully executing the agency’s integrated mission of protection and investigations by leading a diverse workforce composed of more than 7,800 Special Agents, Uniformed Division Officers, Technical Law Enforcement Officers, and Administrative, Professional, and Technical personnel," read the US Secret Service website.

What happened in Pennsylvania today?

Former US President Donald Trump received injuries on his right ear during a Saturday election campaign rally at Pennsylvania's Butler, in what is seen as an assassination bid that left the 78-year-old Republican presidential candidate's face streaked with blood with his alert security agents rushing him off the stage even as he pumped his fist in the air, mouthing the words "Fight! Fight! Fight!"

The shooter, along with one bystander who was there to attend the rally, died.

As gunshots were heard, Trump, who was just six minutes into his election speech, was seen clutching a hand to his right ear, where blood was visible across his cheek and mouth.

Two other spectators were injured, the Secret Service said in a statement. The incident was being investigated as an assassination attempt.

Secret Service agents were quick to respond and surrounded Trump while escorting him off the stage, as he raised a fist to the crowd in defiance.
