Kabul: The Taliban group has claimed to have killed the deputy police chief of southeastern Paktika province in Kabul city of Afghanistan, media reports said on Monday.

The police, however, rejected their claim.

Taliban Spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid on his Twitter page claimed that Abdul Qadir, deputy police chief of Paktika province, was killed in a tactical attack in Kabul on Sunday, reports Pajhwok Afghan News.

Police Spokesperson Firdos Faramarz told Pajhwok Afghan News Abdul Qadir, a common man, was killed in the limits of 12th Police District by his colleagues after a verbal clash turned violent.

“It is a criminal incident and according to our information Abdul Qadir did not work as deputy police chief of Paktika,” he said.

He said the incident is being investigated.
