Tibetan government-in-exile minister meets US special coordinator for Tibetan issues Uzra Zeya

Washington: The exiled Tibetan government’s minister for Information and International Relations Kalon Norzin Dolma recently met US special coordinator for Tibetan issues Uzra Zeya here.

This was Dolma’s first official visit abroad after taking oath in November 2021, and the first in-person meeting of a leader of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) with Special Coordinator Zeya, reports ANI.

Zeya tweeted: "It was a pleasure to meet last week with Norzin Dolma, Kalon of the Central Tibetan Administration’s Department for Information and International Relations. I look forward to working together on our shared priorities that advance the wellbeing and future of Tibetans worldwide."

The meeting took place on Thursday.

At the State Department, Kalon Norzin Dolma also met with Rashad Hussein, US Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom; Nancy Izzo Jackson-A/Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration(PRM); and Scott Busby-A/Assistant Secretary of the State for Democracy, Rights and Labor(DRL). DIIR Secretary Karma Choeying, Representative Namgyal Choedup and Secretary Tashi Dhondup from the Office of Tibet accompanied Kalon in the meetings at the State Department, reports CTA website.

This is Kalon’s first official visit abroad after taking oath on 10 November 2021, and the first in-person meeting of a leader of the Central Tibetan Administration with Under Secretary Zeya.

Under Secretary Zeya congratulated Kalon on her appointment as the Minister and expressed her eagerness to visit Dharamsala to meet Dalai Lama and the CTA officials in the coming months.
