Aamir Khan was on shooters’ target list before Tiger Shroff attack: What changed their plan?

| @indiablooms | Oct 26, 2026, at 05:59 pm

The accused arrested in the firing incident involving Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff have reportedly told Mumbai Police that they initially targeted Salman Khan before considering other prominent film stars, including Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.

According to sources cited by NDTV, the alleged shooters spent time in Mumbai conducting reconnaissance around the residences of several celebrities.

They initially focused on Salman Khan’s Galaxy Apartments but reportedly abandoned the plan after assessing the security arrangements at the actor’s home.

Investigators believe the gang subsequently surveyed the residences of other Bollywood stars before turning its attention to Tiger Shroff, whom they allegedly considered a more accessible target.

The development comes after two men opened fire at Shroff’s car in Mumbai’s Juhu area on the evening of October 18. The actor escaped relatively unhurt, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.

Shooters 'surveyed' Aamir Khan’s residence

According to the investigation, operatives allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang spent around a month in the vicinity of Aamir Khan’s Bandra residence and conducted reconnaissance on three separate occasions before the shooting involving Tiger Shroff’s vehicle.

Sources told NDTV that the alleged attackers found it difficult to approach Aamir because he was frequently away for film shoots or remained indoors for extended periods.

Investigators reportedly believe these circumstances made it harder for the shooters to reach the actor, who is said to have remained largely out of their reach.

The accused allegedly examined the residences of several prominent Bollywood personalities after abandoning their initial plan involving Salman Khan.

Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar were also reportedly among the celebrities whose homes came under surveillance.

The police are investigating the alleged reconnaissance activities as part of the wider probe into the firing incident and the suspected conspiracy behind it.

Tiger Shroff 'chosen as more accessible target'

Sources said the accused eventually shifted their attention to Tiger Shroff because they considered him easier to approach and believed his security arrangements were less restrictive.

The alleged attackers reportedly used social media reels and Instagram posts to learn about the actor’s routine. Investigators believe they discovered that Shroff visited Pushpa Narsee Ground in Juhu every Sunday to play football.

According to the sources, the shooters used this information to plan the attack, allegedly viewing the actor as a comparatively accessible target.

On the evening of October 18, two men allegedly opened fire at Shroff’s car in Juhu before escaping on a motorcycle.

The actor had reportedly been waving at fans through the rolled-up windows of his vehicle when the shooting took place.

Mumbai Police said the attackers fired five to six rounds. Shroff escaped relatively unhurt, but his driver and a bystander sustained injuries.

The investigation is examining whether the attack was intended to intimidate the film industry by targeting a prominent Bollywood personality.

Eleven arrested so far in firing case

Mumbai Police have arrested 11 people in connection with the shooting so far.

The arrests were made across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana, according to the supplied report.

Police have also named gangster Anil Pandit as a wanted accused in the case.

Pandit, who is alleged to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack in a social media post.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has been linked by investigators to threats and attacks involving Bollywood personalities.

The current investigation is examining the alleged roles of those arrested and the wider network suspected of planning the shooting.

According to police, the alleged conspiracy was intended to spread fear within Bollywood by targeting a major film star.

The investigation is continuing into the planning of the attack, the surveillance of celebrity residences and the possible involvement of additional individuals.

Viral audio clip raises questions over Aamir Khan threats

The case has also drawn attention to an audio clip and a social media post attributed to individuals identified as Arzoo Bishnoi and Tyson Bishnoi.

The material allegedly criticised Aamir Khan’s third marriage to Gauri Spratt, claiming that it promoted “love jihad” and went against “Sanatan” culture.

The individuals attributed to the audio and post reportedly threatened to teach the actor a lesson.

The claims have emerged alongside reports that people allegedly linked to the gang had conducted reconnaissance near Aamir’s residence.

Mumbai Police are investigating the viral audio clip as part of the wider inquiry.

The term “love jihad” has frequently appeared in political and social debates involving allegations that Muslim men seek to convert Hindu women through marriage.

However, the term is not defined under Indian law.

In 2020, the Union Home Ministry informed the Lok Sabha that no such term was defined under existing laws in the country.

Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the alleged surveillance of Aamir Khan’s residence, the online material targeting the actor and any possible links between these developments and the shooting involving Tiger Shroff.

The police inquiry is also seeking to establish how the attackers gathered information about celebrity routines and used it to identify potential targets.
