Nirendranath Chakraborty passes away in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee mourns
Kolkata, Dec 25 (IBNS): Famous Bengali poet Nirendranath Chakraborty passed away in a hospital in Kolkata on Tuesday.
The writer reportedly died after suffering from cardiac arrest.
He was 94.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee described his death as a 'great loss'.
"Saddened at the passing of poet Nirendranath Chakrabarty. It’s a great loss to us all. His contribution to Bengali literature was immense and he will be always remembered through his works. We had felicitated him with 'Banga Bibhushan' award in 2017.Condolences to his family," she tweeted.

The writer won the Sahitya Academy Award in 1974 for the book of poems Ulanga Raja (The Naked King).
Chakraborty also wrote few detective novels of Bhaduri Moshai.
