New Delhi/IBNS: A high level committee appointed by the Supreme Court will probe Prime Minister Narendra Modi's security breach in Punjab that has led to a war of words between the government and opposition Congress, which rules the poll-bound northern state, media reports said.

The committee will be chaired by a retired Supreme Court judge.

The top court has directed both the Centre and the Punjab government to hold on their respective ongoing probes into the security lapse.

On last Wednesday, the Prime Minister was going to Bhatinda to visit the National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter.

Due to rain and poor visibility, the Prime Minister waited for 15-20 minutes for the weather to clear out.

Since the bad weather condition continued, it was decided the Prime minister would visit the National Martyrs Memorial via road.

When the Prime Minister's cavalcade reached the flyover, it was found that the road was blocked by some protestors owing to which he was stuck on a flyover for 15-20 minutes.
