Wimbledon: Kerber stuns Sharapova

London July 1 (IBNS): French Open title holder Maria Sharapova of Russia crashed out of the Wimbledon after she was defeated by German ninth seed Angelique Kerber in the fourth round of the event here on Tuesday.

Crashing Sharapova's hopes of winning another Wimbledon title, Kerber defeated her 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 6-4.

Roger Federer eased into the last eight stage of the men's singles round by defeating Tommy Robredo.

Federer defeated the Spaniard  6-1 6-4 6-4.

He will face fellow Swiss Stan Wawrinka in the next round clash.

Wawrinka beat Feliciano Lopez 7-6 7-6 6-3 to set a clash against Federer.
