Cairn Energy withdraws all litigations against India in retrospective tax case

New Delhi/IBNS: Cairn Energy, now known as Capricorn energy, has withdrawn all cases in relation to retrospective taxes, allowing the Indian government to roll back the tax regimen and refund the taxes collected in this regard to the company, media reports said.

New Delhi/IBNS: The Centre has taken strong exception to the media reports that allegedly claimed that it has asked state-owned banks to withdraw funds from foreign currency accounts abroad in anticipation of the potential seizure of such accounts with regard to the Cairn legal dispute, a Finance Ministry statement said Sunday.

The Hague/IBNS: India is believed to have challenged the decision of a three-member tribunal at the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague dismissing its Rs 10, 247 crore tax claim on Cairn Energy Plc, said media reports.
