My stories are about real people, says veteran actor and author Jayant Kripalani

For all those who grew up in the eighties, the name Jayant Kripalani needs no introduction. The actor of the popular television shows like ‘Khandaan’, ‘Mr ya Mrs.’ has donned many caps over the years, be it as a theatre personality, film and television actor, a director, and occasionally, an author. But what comes across mostly about him, is his extreme witty sense of humour which is part of his charm. Add to that an extremely irreverent perspective on almost everything and a very serious ideology of not taking himself seriously at all. In an email conversation with the actor and author about his latest book ‘Cantilevered Tales’, a collection of stories on different people and their quirks and mannerisms, IBNS correspondent Tanushree Sen finds him in his trademark irreverent manner, which seeps into his book, yet remaining meaningful at the same time. Excerpts from the very candid conversation.
