Germany horror: 5 die in brutal shooting in Stade, 2 suspects arrested

At least five people died in a shooting incident in Stade city in Germany on Monday, media reports said.

The Lüneburg Police Department issued an alert on X, urging the public to avoid the area. “A police operation is currently taking place in Stade. Avoid the area widely,” the statement read.

Police said two people have been arrested in connection with the incident, including one suspect. A police spokesperson confirmed the arrests to the BBC.

Authorities further stated that there is currently no public threat.

A large number of security personnel have been deployed at the scene as investigations continue.

Stade is a city in Lower Saxony in northern Germany, with a population of around 50,000. It is located approximately 45 km west of Hamburg and is part of the Hamburg metropolitan region.
