Cairo/IBNS: Ever Given, the stranded container ship blocking the Suez Canal, has been refloated in the early hours of Monday and is currently being secured, Inch Cape Shipping Services tweeted.

"Re-floating operations were suspended at 23:00 lt 27/03/2021. The dredgers will continue to work until tomorrow 16:00 lt, at which point the re-floating operations will resume. Our source also advises that the MV Ever Given has moved 29 meters by the tugs in today’s operations," Inch Cape had tweeted in the early hours of March 28.

The Suez Canal Authority had confirmed that tugging operations to release the ship had been relaunched.

"The front part of Ever Given has moved a little, but it is not enough to free the ship," a source in the Gulf Agency Company (GAC), the canal’s operator, had told Sputnik, earlier.

"We cannot give the exact timing of when the operation will end, it can happen at any time," the source had added.
