Kerala reports 25 COVID deaths, 9,347 new cases

Thiruvananthapuram/UNI: Kerala reported 25 deaths due to COVID-19 on Sunday, rising the death toll to 1,003 in the state, officials said on Sunday.

9,347 people tested positive for the virus and 8,924 patients have recovered from the disease and 96,316 patients are under treatment in the state, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.

The Minister in a press release said, "Of the positive cases reported today, 8,216 were cases of local transmission and the source of infection for 821 was unknown. 105 healthcare workers were among those infected through contact."

She said 25 recent deaths were confirmed today taking the death toll to 1,003 in the state.

The district-wise figures for the positive cases are Malappuram 1,451, Ernakulam 1,228, Kozhikode 1,219, Thrissur 960, Thiruvananthapuram 797, Kollam 712, Palakkad 640, Alappuzha 619, Kottayam 417, Kannur 413, Pathanamthitta 378, Kasargod 242, Wayanad 148 and Idukki 123.

Of those diagnosed today, 46 have returned from foreign countries and 155 from other states.
