Mumbai/UNI: Maharashtra is in the beginning of a "second wave" of Covid-19, the Union Ministry of Health said in a letter to the state government on Tuesday.

The Central Committee has wrote a letter to Chief Secretary Sitaram Kunte over the COVID situation.

The letter, written by Union Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, said that no concrete steps were being taken on the corona situation in the state and that the night curfew was not having a concrete effect on corona proliferation.

Two weeks ago, the Central Committee had visited the state to study the origin and propagation of the corona. At the time, the committee was reviewing corona prevention facilities.

In a letter to the state's chief secretary, Mr Bhushan said the second wave was likely to start with the rising number of corona patients in the state.

Two weeks ago, a team from the Union Health Ministry visited the state between March 7 and March 11.

The team had also held discussions with the Chief Minister on March 8.

The Centre's team had visited S and T wards in Mumbai as well as Thane, Nashik, Jalgaon, Dhule, Aurangabad. The team observed the status of testing, tracking and isolation-quarantine facilities treatment to prevent coronavirus outbreak in the state.

yesterday above 17000 positive patients were reported with 87 casualties in the state.
