New Zealand reports 3 new cases of COVID-19 on election day

Wellington/Xinhua: New Zealand reported three new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, according to the country's Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry, all three cases are imported cases detected in managed isolation facilities. The first case arrived from Britain via Singapore on October 9. The second and third imported cases arrived from the United Arab Emirates on October 13.

The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Zealand reached 1,527.

The total number of active COVID-19 cases is 40, none are active community cases though. At present there is no one in the hospital with COVID-19 in New Zealand, said the ministry.

Laboratories across New Zealand processed 4,794 more tests, bringing the total number of tests completed to date to 1,026,725.

New Zealand is currently on COVID-19 Alert Level 1. Saturday is the election day for the New Zealand 2020 General Election and referendums.
