Poachers turn Kaziranga National Park as killing field, two more rhinos dead

Guwahati, Jan 11 (IBNS): Poachers turned Assam's Kaziranga National Park as killing field while two more rhinos were poached in the world heritage site in past 24 hours.
Poachers killed two one horned rhinos in the national park on Saturday night and managed to flee with its horn.
 
Four rhinos were poached in the state in this year so far.
 
According to reports, poachers killed a male rhino at Burhapahar area inside the park around 1:30 am on Saturday while another rhino was poached at Agoratoli forest range area in the park.
 
Forest guards found the dehorned bullet injuries bodies on Sunday morning.
 
A top official of the national park said that, poachers killed the rhino at Agoratoli forest range area three days before.
 
In past 10 days, Assam lost four big animals which were poached including three in Kaziranga.
 
On other hand, several organisations including All Assam Students Union (AASU), KMSS had protested across the state against the Tarun Gogoi led state government failure to protect wild animals.
 
In Kaziranga, Kaliabor, Nagaon the protesters burnt the effigy of State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain and Assam CM Tarun Gogoi and demanded their immediate resignation to take responsible for failure to protect wild animals.
 
The protesters also blockade National Highway at Kaziranga and damaged several vehicles of state forest department.
 
"The state government has totally failed to protect wild animals in the state. Poachers continued their killing spree but the state forest department could not take any necessary actions against the poachers, " AASU advisor Dr Samujjal Bhattacharyee said.
 
In last year a total of 36 one horned rhinoceros had fallen by poachers in the state.
