Madrid/Xinhua/UNI: Spain's Health Ministry on Tuesday said there have been further falls in the number of new COVID-19 confirmed cases and deaths in the country.

The Ministry reports that 23,822 people have died from the novel coronavirus in Spain, after 301 deaths in the 24-hour period until 21:00 hours local time on Monday.

This marked a decline of 30 in the 24-hour death toll and is especially significant as previous Tuesdays had all seen a rise in mortality due to delays in collecting data over the weekend.

Meanwhile, 1,308 new cases of COVID-19 were detected by PCR tests, taking the total number of cases detected by this method to 210,773.

This was compared to the 1,831 new cases reported on Monday, with the increase in percentage terms falling to 0.62 percent.

The number of patients who have recovered was up by 1,673 to 102,548.
