West Bengal crosses 8 lakh-mark in COVID-19 testing, reports 2341 new cases, 40 more deaths

Kolkata/IBNS: With 2341 fresh infections and 40 more fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has jumped to 58718, including 19595 active cases, 1372 deaths and 37751 discharges, reports said on Sunday.

Officials said that Bengal had tested 8,05,185 samples till date with 16045 tests conducted in 56 testing facilities across the state in the last 24 hours, which is the highest so far on a single day.  

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 2097 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 64.29 per cent from 63.24 per cent.

Meanwhile, state authorities reported that as on Sunday (July 26) evening, West Bengal had 1042 broad-based containment zones, out of which 31 were in Kolkata.   

Presently, 3470 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 34291 people are under home surveillance in the state.
