Shimla/UNI: Taking note of the present Covid-19 situation in the state, the Himachal Pradesh government on Friday decided to lift the Disaster Management Act.

According to the state notification issued here, there may not be any further need to invoke the provisions of the Disaster Management Act for Covid-19 containment measures.

"All the restrictions for containment of the pandemic issued by SEC are hereby withdrawn, however, advisories on COVID containment measures, including on the use of face mask and hand hygiene, would continue to guide the overall State response to the pandemic and keeping the nature of the disease in mind, the District Administrations still need to remain observant of the situation," the notification read.

The Act may be considered taking promoted a surge in the number of cases if observed.

The role of the Union Home department and police is likely to cease with this notification.

All the Departments and Organizations of the Government, District Magistrates, Police Officers, Officials and Local Authorities of the State are directed to ensure strict compliance with the directions of the State Executive Committee.
