Jammu and Kashmir: Pakistani, a local militant of LeT trapped in Kulgam encounter

| @indiablooms | May 08, 2022, at 06:57 pm

Srinagar: A Pakistani and a local militant of the Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) have been engaged in an ongoing gun battle in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district on Sunday, officials said.

“1 #Pakistani #terrorist (Haider) of LeT terror outfit & a local terrorist trapped in on-going #encounter. Haider was active in North Kashmir for more than 2 years & involved in several #terror crimes” Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar tweeted.

The gun battle erupted at Cheyan Devsar during a cordon and a search operation launched by the Army and Police in the area following an input about the presence of militants.

"As the joint team of forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight," a security official said.
