Secunderabad: Fire breaks out at timber godown, 11 migrant workers die

Hyderabad: At least 11 migrant workers from Bihar were burnt alive in a massive fire in a timber godown at Bhoiguda region in Secunderabad in the early hours of Wednesday.

Police said the fire erupted at 0400 hours.

It is suspected that the fire was caused due to a short circuit in the godown.

Five fire engines reached the spot and Firefighters brought the fire under control.

About 15 workers slept in the godown last night and 11 were caught in the blaze and burnt alive.

The remaining managed to escape. Telangana Minister Talsani Srinivas Yadav reached the spot after receiving information about the incident. Speaking to media, he said the fire incident was unfortunate.

Yadav said that the relief efforts were delayed due to the early hours of the morning.

The Minister said that a full investigation would be carried out into the incident.

He expressed his condolences to the members of bereaved families.
