Supreme Court issues notice to Future Group on appeal filed by Amazon

New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a notice to the Future Group on an appeal filed by Amazon challenging a Jan 5 order of the Delhi High Court staying arbitration proceedings before an international tribunal.

A three-judge Bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice N V Ramana issued notice to Future Group after hearing an appeal filed by Amazon.

"All right. We are issuing notice," Chief Justice Ramana said and fixed Feb 23 as the next date of hearing.

The Supreme Court observed that newspapers have highlighted the observations of the Chief Justice.

But Future also wants to drag on the matter.

The court issued notice to the Future Group after hearing an appeal by Amazon against the Jan 5 Delhi High Court order staying the arbitration proceedings initiated by Amazon before a Singapore tribunal when the tribunal proceedings were going on.

On Feb 1, the apex court sought the concerned banks' responses after Future Group sought the court's directions.
