Bangkok: Boat explosion injured 67

Bangkok, May 5 (IBNS) The engine of a boat taxi exploded in Thailand's capital Bangkok on Saturday which left at least 67 people injured,media reports said.

According to reports, the boat was reportedly carrying 80 passengers when the mishap occurred.

"The boat carrying around 80 passengers was approaching the dock at at Wat Thep Leela pier around 6:30am Saturday when the engine exploded, according to Chawalit Methayaprapas, owner of Family Transport (Krob Krua Kon Song) company,"  Khaosod English reported.

Police reached the spot and started rescue operation.

The injured people have been rushed to a hospital.

Pairat Boondam, manager of Family Transport, told Khaosod English that his company started to use boats that used natural gas around 7 or 8 years ago.

Pairat told  Khaosod English that today was the first time there has been explosion involving their boats.
