Brazil: Journalist steps on the body of a 'missing' girl while reporting on her disappearance

A Brazilian journalist was visibly left shaken after he stepped on the body of a missing schoolgirl while he was reporting on her disappearance recently.

In the chilling video, Lenildo Frazão moved into the Mearim River in Bacabal to demonstrate the depth of the water in the location where the girl went missing.

The girl was identified as Raíssa.

The journalist could be seen jumping into the water when he felt something touch him.

He turned to the camera crew and exclaimed as quoted by The Mirror newspaper: "I think there's something down here at the bottom of the water."

Visibly disturbed, the journalist then was quoted as saying: “No, I’m not going, I’m scared."

“It looked like an arm - could it be her? But it might be a fish too, I don’t know," he said.

The body of the girl was recovered from the same spot by firefighters and divers on June 30 when they searched for her.

The victim reportedly drowned while she was cooling off with friends.
