Canberra/UNI: An alleged stabbing incident at the prestigious Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra has left three individuals hospitalised with injuries.

Authorities responded to the incident at the ANU campus in the capital city around 2:45 p.m. local time on Monday, stated reports by state media.

Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Policing has confirmed that three individuals were transported to the hospital, with two of them sustaining stab wounds, while the third was allegedly assaulted.

One person is currently in custody in connection with the incident. As investigations unfold, both the police and the university have yet to confirm whether those involved were ANU students or staff members.

A spokesperson for Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Policing told the ABC that three people were taken to the hospital and that one person was in custody in relation to the incident.

In a statement posted on social media, the ANU asked people to stay away from Fellows Oval at its campus in the central Canberra suburb of Acton.

The ABC reported that neither the police nor the university were able to confirm if anyone involved in the incident was an ANU student or staff member.
