Islamabad/IBNS: In a weird statement, a Pakistan ruling party member called popular actor Mahira Khan "mentally ill" for loving Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan.

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leader Afnan Ullah Khan has also claimed Mahira "flatters Indian actors for money".

In the course of an interaction with satirist Anwar Maqsood at an event, Mahira had expressed her love for "the hero" of her time, Shah Rukh Khan, who has just delivered his career's one of the most successful films Pathaan.

Slamming Mahira, Afnan tweeted in Urdu, "Mahira Khan has mental health problem and Anwar Maqsood is drunk in this part of life. Both these shameless characters are cursed by public.

"Books can be written on Mahira Khan's character, she also flatters Indian actors for money. And Anwar Maqsood is a cursed character full of prejudice."

Mahira, who earned fame for Pakistani television daily soap Humsafar, starred alongside Shah Rukh in 2017 Hindi film Raees.

In several interviews in the past, Mahira had talked about the "humbleness" of Shah Rukh, who is one of the biggest superstars of India.
