'Are we really free?' Kriti Sanon raises voice over Kolkata rape-murder
Mumbai/IBNS: In her Independence Day post, Bollywood actor Kriti Sanon did not "feel like wishing" with a "heavy heart and angry soul" over the heinous rape and murder case of a 31-year-old trainee doctor in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
"While we celebrate our 78th year of Independence and feel proud on how far we've come as a country globally.. it breaks my heart to see the terrifying reality that women are still not Safe in their own country. There is absolutely no fear in the people who commit these in humane acts."
She even raised questions like "Are we really free when our basic safety is in question?"
"And even today, its the woman being blamed for being a victim!!! Unless there is faster justice, severe punishments and more importantly better upbringing, nothing is gonna change, Are we really FREE when our basic safety is in question??"
Earlier, Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan joined other tinseltown celebrities in expressing anguish over the gruesome crime.
In an Instagram post, Kareena wrote, "12 years later, the same story, the same protest. But we are still waiting for change."
Bollywood actors Alia Bhatt, Parineeti Chopra, and Ayushmann Khurrana among others have voiced their anguish over the incident too.
